During the planing stage of active and passive fire protection, questioning the adequacy of local fire brigade is an important issue. The configurations of the fire brigade should be performed according to local conditions with the consideration of expected danger.

Fire brigades in areas where the density of the industrial facilities differs, or in case if they serve only residential territories, it is necessary to analyze the local fire department , latest during the planning stage.

The following questions should be considered: Does the fire brigade come in time, within 10-20 min after the fire alarm initiation? How is the local traffic condition? How is the local fire department equipped? Are there hydraulic basket cranes? How are the fire extinguishing systems? How many people and vehicles are available at one time? Is there any increased risk in case of several fire accidents happened at once? These issues should be considered and must be a part of the fire protection concept.
